The Enemy of Advance is Basic

 Assalamualaikum & hey friends,

Few days ago, I was having an online training for upscaling engineering knowledge in my factory. All engineers and above were compulsory and mandatory to attend this training. Of course it was free since the trainer is our own colleague. But, in this entry, I am not going to focus on the training content itself but rather to portray a lesson which I learned as per this entry title.

The participants were about 100++ people and I would say it was quite a huge number. During the training, the trainer did post 2 related questions before proceed to the actual contents and the participants were required to answer and post their own answers in the chatbox.

At first, I was not so interested to answer the questions but since the trainer urged everybody to answer, then I had no choice. But of course I did not want to be the first to answer the questions😜. After I saw few people posted their answers, I felt reluctant to give my answers because their answers were differ from mine. I was not agreed with their answers but I also scared that my aswers would be wrong. The majority people had same answers but of course differ from mine😔. The power of majority had killed my confident. All the people from engineer to manager and director level had made my confident dropped significantly and I started to doubt my answers also.

After few seconds, there was one guy who had the same answers like mine. Then, my self-esteem came back and I posted my answers also. After a momnet, the trainer announced that there were only 4 people got answers right. Then the trainer started to explain the answers and guess what, my answers were right. Seriously, deeply I was jubilant at that time😍😍😍. If let say that one guy did not have the same answers as mine,  maybe I will not post my own answers and will be greatly regretted after trainer told the answers.😩

At that time, I started to realize something which was the enemy of advance is basic. As I mentioned before, the people who answered differ (of course wrong also) from mine came from engineer, manager & director level. I would say their knowledge and experience of course advance many years compare to mine. But, when the trainer did ask the basic questions, all of them (except 4 people included me) got wrong even their knowledge and experience in the industry at the advance level already.

In conclusion, even our knowledge at advance level already, but sometimes we did not clear the basic yet. Thus, basic is really important so that it will be able to support the advance level as the base profusely. We have to reinforce our basic knowledge and progressively move to the advance level. Everybody will learn and nobody is perfect. Don't make your advance level as enemy to the basic.😉
