Swab Test For New Hire

 Assalamualaikum w.b.t

Today (21st June 2021) should be my first day at new company. However, as a mitigation plan to avoid spread of Covid-19 in the company, all the new hired employees must take swab test for covid -19. Thus, my first day onsite should be tomorrow.

There are 2 types of tests which recognized by our Malaysian government which are Rapid Test Kit Antigen (RTK-Ag) and Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT PCR). So, to get a quick result within 15-30 mins, I had undergone RTK-Ag test. Scientifically, the efficiency of RT PCR is higher compare to RTK-Ag. However, it can be used as a screening test. I will write the differences between both tests in next entry.

Is it pain while doing the test through nasal? I would say no. But after that, I feel kind of not comfortable feeling in my nose (but it is not pain) even after few hours already. I got the info from other people who already experienced the nasal swab test that the pain might last longer up to 3 to 4 days. But, some people don't even feel the pain after the test. Maybe the way of doctors or nurses handle nasal swab test might be varied. Some might a bit rough and some not. I am not sure.

Alhamdulillah I didn't receive any call from the respective clinic after 15 minutes of the test and it meant I am negative. People out there please stay safe and follow strictly the SOP that had been given by Ministry of Health (MOH). Do not violate any rule especially movement control order as I know some people take advantage over their company letter to go back to home town. But, please do not violate the rule.

I know, all people are missing their families and including me also; its been half year since I last met my family. But, please ease frontliner work and do not be selfish. We are still fighting against unseen enemy and with the fluctuation of new cases every day, I would say are still long way to go to win this war.

Thanks for your time.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People (By Stephen R. Covey)

Assalamualaikum w.b.t

A few weeks back, I just finished another book as stated above which I think is good for all readers especially those who want to improve their lives.

I got the book from Popular Bookstore at Queensbay, Penang with price of RM56.90. I would say it is affordable to grab it.

The book is about 7 habits that we should practice in our daily life so that we will optimize our daily day effectiveness.

Here I list all the habits but I won't elaborate more as I think it is better for you to grab it and read it :

1) Be proactive

2) Begin with the end in mind

3) Put first thing first

4) Think win-win

5) Seek first to understand, then to be understood

6) Synergize

7) Sharpen the saw

The language used is very simple and easy to be understood.

Overall rating form my insight view is 9.5/10

Thanks for your time

My Last Day As An Engineer

Assalamualaikum w.b.t

It's been a while since my last post as my life schedule either personal or professional is quite pack. But, since today is quite a special day, so I want to spare my time to write this entry.

Actually, today is my last day at one of semiconductor companies in Penang. I have been there more than 4 years already as an engineer. Let's assume this company as XYZ to ease my entry.

Literally, I would say that this is my first company (Actually is 2nd company, but I won't elaborate more on this). There, I learned a lot and I met a lot of great people. But, there are still a lot of things if I list here, then no one will ever go there. But I won't focus on those negativity things.

XYZ is a local company. The business is quite good and I would say this company maybe won't close even after 20 years later (Maybe this is my guarantee, haha). This company had been operating almost 30 years so should be no problem to continue another 20 years with guarantee. (If they close before 20 years, I am so sorry as my prediction goes wrong)

Actually, few weeks back, I got a call from HR of MNC company (let's assume this company as ABC). MNC stands for multinational company. They offered me an interview for engineer post. This is one of my dream company wish lists. I don't even apply for that position but I got an offer since I have experience in a certain area. So, without hesitate, I accept their offer to attend the interview.

To make it short, after 2 series of interview from manager and director independently, I was offered the position. This is what we called as "rezeki" as I don't even apply for that company for that time, then being called for interviews and successfully secured the position. It was such an ecstatic day for me.

ABC offered me with 33% salary increment which I think is quite high with a lot of benefits compare to XYZ. However, that company requested to me for 1 month notice only since they will pay 1 month salary for me due to short notice to XYZ. But, of course XYZ won't directly accept my resign letter.

The first thing XYZ did is counter offer with extra another RM500 (33% increment + RM500) from what had been offered by ABC. I was shocked that time. Why they not even offer me before I resigned? Now I see my value. So, for certain people of course they will accept the counter offer. But not form me. I have made up my mind. So, I still insist to resign. So XYZ unwillingly need to accept my resign letter.

The 2nd thing XYZ did is they ask me to follow 2 months notice in order to train new engineer. It is not my intention to leave company with 1 month notice. But, since it is request from my new employer, so I cannot accept request from ABC. I turned down their request.

The last thing XYZ did is the boss say to me that they still hope I will return to XYZ if I think ABC is not suitable for me. To be honest, I don't plan to return to XYZ as I have my life plan ahead already. Thanks for XYZ for seeing me as valuable employee at their company even it's already too late. I really appreciate that.

Thus, I will start my new career path at ABC starting next Tuesday and I hope everything will go smoothly.

Below is a few advises which I think good for employers and employees out there.

Employer

- Appreciate your employees as much as possible until they feel the same way

- Provide career growth

Employee

- Use proper way to resign. Company takes you in a good way and make sure you leave in a good way also (stick to company rules & regulations)

- If you think you are being undervalued, then find new one

- Don't let work ruin your personal & family life.

- Work smart together with work hard

Thanks for your time to read my entry (I know no one interested in reading this. hahaha)
